The Intersection of Media Literacy and Inquiry [41:08]
I had the recent pleasure of sitting down with Washington educator Jennifer LaGarde. Jennifer has spent her career making a difference in public education as a classroom teacher, a teacher librarian, a digital media specialist, an author, and a statewide leader—so I was excited to talk with her about the marriage of media literacy and inquiry: not just how they overlap, but how one can inform the other. We discuss the importance of digital citizenship, how to integrate media literacy into existing curriculum, and even how librarians can play stronger "offense" when it comes to sharing positive stories, rather than just playing "defense" against critics.
After you watch our conversation, visit Jennifer at librarygirl.net and check out her SLC column,"Developing Digital Detectives."
