Activity: Be Prepared for Challenges

Context:

Expression of concern, challenge, and censorship—three terms that are often confused—are clarified in this lesson. Adams talks about why challenges occur, who challenges books, and how to be prepared for a potential challenge.

Instructions:

Find your school library policy for reconsideration of library materials. Review the policy and compare it to the Challenge-Proofing your Library Checklist. What changes do you need to make to help your library be better prepared to handle materials challenges? Share your findings with your administrator.
