In this lesson, Adams gives practical tips for handling every stage of a challenge, from informal discussion with a parent through a formal challenge process and what to do after the process is complete. The tips given include key items that should be included in your district's reconsideration policy as well as possible sources of support.
One tip in this lesson is for the librarian to provide supporting materials for the reconsideration committee. Think about what supporting materials you would need to gather, including any specified by your library or district policy (many suggestions are given in this lesson). Make a checklist of these items for reference when a challenge occurs and include this checklist with your challenge procedures for easy retrieval.
