Review

This series utilizes inquiry methods to examine critical turning points in American history. Each title challenges students to explore further and to analyze what has been seen in illustrations and read in the material, which utilizes both primary and secondary information sources. Each section ends with thoughtful questions for discussion, and each title includes links to websites where students can explore topics in depth. In the book on the Boston Tea Party, evidence is presented to establish reasons for the colonists' reaction to the tax on tea and the debate on taxation without a voice in decision-making. Viewpoints of the Loyalists and the boycotters and the actions taken within the colonies in advance of the rebellion are discussed. Reactions of the rebels, Loyalists, and the British are presented as well. This series would make an excellent addition to libraries and the use of these books will enhance students' abilities to interpret historical data. I am recommending these titles to all my teachers in third through fifth grade, as it is aligned with their social studies curriculum. Glossary.Index.
