Review

When Constitution testing rolls around there is hardly ever sufficient time to cover the growing number of important topics. This series provides fantastic additions to the American history curriculum, covering political jobs and topics that often fall through the cracks of ordinary Constitution or American government units. These texts are ideal for jigsaw lessons in cooperative groups. Each book is short, contains additional book and web resources, photographs, and primary sources. Educators will appreciate the essential questions posed for discussion or further research that are interspersed throughout the texts. The texts do not avoid controversy but instead deliberately include milestone events whose outcomes had historical implications, such as the Executive Order to intern the Japanese during World War II, Obama's decision to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Justice Scalia's death which led to Republicans deliberately delaying a Supreme Court successor, or super PACs. The series could benefit from extension project ideas or Common Core goals and standards. Glossary.

Product Description
More than 500 years ago, Leonardo knew that the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) are all connected. The insatiably curious Leonardo examined not just the outer appearance of his art subjects, but the science that explained them. He began his studies as a painter, but his curiosity, diligence, and genius made him also a master sculptor, architect, designer, scientist, engineer, and inventor. The Leonardo's Workshop series shares this spirit of multidisciplinary inquiry with children through accessible, engaging explanations and hands-on learning.

This fascinating book harnesses children's innate curiosity to explore some of Leonardo's favorite subjects, including flight, motion, technology design, perspective, and astronomy. After each topic is explained with concepts from physics, chemistry, math, and engineering, kids can experience the principles first-hand with step-by-step STEAM projects.
