Teacher Licensure Needed: Yes

Master's Degree Needed: No

Praxis II Library Media Content Test Needed: No

Other Testing Needed: Yes. Beginning September 1, 2014, candidates cannot take the Praxis tests for Missouri educator certification. All candidates must pass the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments (MEGA) for admission to and completion of educator certification programs in Missouri. Educators who have passed one or more Praxis tests prior to September 2, 2014 must have completed approved programs and applied for certification prior to December 31, 2016.

Description: Missouri provides a certificate for Library Media Education.

Evaluation Process for Licensure:

A baccalaureate degree from a college or university having a teacher education program approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education;

Pass the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessment (MEGA);

Completion of 30 minimum semester hours of professional requirements as determined by the recommending college or university.

Reciprocity: Missouri follows the Interstate Agreement with the 50 states and the District of Columbia in the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education & Certification (NASDEC).
