Certification Requirements
Teacher Licensure Needed: Candidates must complete an approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP).
Master's Degree Needed: Yes
Praxis II Library Media Content Test Needed: No, but will be accepted in lieu of the Texas examinations if out of state applicant with a score of 150 or above.
Other Testing Needed: Yes, the Texas Examination of Educator Standards is required with a score of 240 from total of 300. Applicants who have met comparable passing scores on selected tests from Arizona, Colorado, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico and Oklahoma must submit a Test Score/Passing Verification Release Authorization Form.

Evaluation Process for Licensure includes:
- Complete an approved Educator Preparation Program (EPP) for the specific certificate desired.
- Hold a master's degree from an institution of higher education that is accredited by an accrediting agency, as recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
- Complete the required test.
- Have two years of classroom teaching experience in a public or accredited private school.
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Assessments (NBPTS) is accepted for certification testing requirements in Texas.
