About the Presenters

Jen Cannell, EdD, is the 2019-2020 president of the New York Library Association. She is also the director of the School Library Media Specialist Graduate Program at St. John Fisher College. Jen's career began in Fairport, NY, where she was a middle school librarian before moving on to direct several school library systems. Jen has received a Crystal Apple for teacher of the year and was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award by the School Library Systems Association of New York State. Jen enjoys challenging work and has a passion for learning.

Mary Fellows, MLS, is manager of youth and family services at Upper Hudson Library System in Albany, NY. She earned her master's in library science from Indiana University. Fellows is editor of the publication Smart Training, Smart Librarians: Competency-Based Training for Youth Services and in 2011-2012 served as president of the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
