Often, these experiences are successful because librarians have creatively woven in a social element. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented public and school librarians, teachers, and districts with the challenge of keeping reading social during hybrid learning.

Please join Bridget Crossman, Stacey Rattner, Kristin Fraga Sierra, and Melissa Thom in a roundtable conversation discussing the importance of and ideas for keeping reading social at all levels during hybrid learning. From classroom activities to community events, participants will leave with a laundry list of ideas that are bound to be a hit for readers. About the Presenters

Melissa Thom, MA, (she/her) is a teacher librarian at Bristow Middle School in West Hartford, CT. She spent 12 years teaching grades four to six as a classroom teacher, and eight years ago she earned her library media specialist certification. She is the president of the Connecticut Association of School Librarians, a 2019 AASL Social Media Superstar Reader Leader finalist, and a 2022 Library Journal Mover and Shaker.

Stacey Rattner is the K-6 librarian at Castleton Elementary School in upstate Castleton, New York. She is active on social media where you can always find a picture or two of Stacey and her students leaping on Twitter @staceybethr and @C_ESLibrary and her blog librarianleaps.blogspot.com.

Bridget Crossman, MS, is an elementary librarian at Lake George Central School in Lake George, NY. In addition, she is an adjunct professor at St. John Fisher College. She is the author of Community Partnerships with School Libraries: Creating Innovative Learning Experiences and a contributor to Radical Collaborations for Learning: School Librarians as Change Agents. Her leadership in the field has afforded her the opportunity to present AASL National Conference, in National Webinars, and at many state and local level conferences. She was the recipient of the New York State Reading Association's Library Media Specialist Award and most recently selected as Librarian of the Year by WSWHE BOCES School Library Services. Ali Schilpp is School Library Journal's 2018 School Librarian of the Year and received the 2019 Children's Literature Advocate Award from Frostburg State University. She has been a certified school librarian for over 19 years; her work experiences include three different school libraries with students throughout Baltimore and Mountain Maryland. Kristin Fraga Sierra, MEd, is the teacher librarian at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington. She is advisor of Project Lit Abes Book Club, a chapter of grassroots literacy movement the Project Lit Community. Kristin co-wrote a chapter in the book Core Values in School Librarianship: Responding with Commitment and Courage (Libraries Unlimited, 2021).
