Description: Individuals seeking the secondary level, elementary or middle school endorsement in Library Information Specialist will be required to complete either a major in the content area or have 24 semester hours of content.

Evaluation Process for Licensure:

Testing for individuals who hold a valid and comparable certificate may be waived. The criteria for eligible individuals are:

  • Hold a valid out-of-state teaching license comparable to the Indiana standard teaching license
  • Have at least three years out-of-state teaching experience. The experience must be at the grade level, in the subject area of the Indiana license you want, and at a school accredited by a state government or a regional accrediting association.

Reciprocity: To teach in an accredited school in Indiana, one must hold a valid Indiana Teaching License. Candidates who have a Bachelor's Degree can be considered for an evaluation for an instructional license. For School Services and Administrative Licenses, a Master's Degree from an institution regionally accredited to offer degrees in education is required for licensure OR one might be a graduate of a regionally accredited institution and meet the education requirements for that state. Meeting minimum requirements for evaluation does NOT guarantee issuance of an Indiana Instructional, Administrative or School Services license. For additional information see:
