Evaluation Process for Licensure:
There are three ways to obtain a Library Media endorsement in Mississippi:
Pathway 1:
- Complete a Bachelor's degree program or higher in a library media program.
- Pass the Praxis I
- Pass the Praxis II (Principles of Learning & Teaching)
- Pass the Praxis II (Library Media Specialist).
OR
Pathway 2:
- Hold a five-year Educator License
- Complete an approved LME program
OR
Pathway 3:
- Hold a 5-year Educator License
Reciprocity: Yes, a 5-year license is granted to candidates who hold a valid out-of-state (K-12) license in an area in which Mississippi issues an endorsement. Mississippi follows the Interstate Agreement with the 50 states and the District of Columbia in the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education & Certification (NASDEC).
