Activity: Matching Mission to Design

Now that you've learned about library design from soup to nuts, practice a redesign process. Take a look at the example library floor plan in the form below. Imagine the school where this library is housed has the mission statement, "Through rigorous academics and close mentoring, the school prepares students to think independently and to meet the challenges of a changing world with leadership and ingenuity." Use the zone plan method from Lesson 3, "Collection Spaces," to rezone this library to better match the mission statement. Alternatively, use a plan of your own library and your school's mission statement to complete the activity.
