Learn about the 10 Questions for Young Changemakers Framework, developed by Harvard's Democratic Knowledge Project (DKP), and the many ways it can be used in school libraries to help students develop successful—equitable, effective, and self-protective—civic agency in this digital age. Chaebong Nam of DKP will discuss the rationale behind the Framework, and Laura Gardner, a practicing middle school librarian, will share specific examples of the 10 Questions in practice with students.

Join us to learn more about:

  • The rationale behind the 10 Questions Framework, how it helps young people become "changemakers," and how changemaking can be accomplished all along the ideological spectrum—that is, anyone, whether liberal or conservative, can be a changemaker
  • Relevance of the Framework to school libraries as it supports your role as civic educator
  • Implementation strategies for learning practices based on the Framework, from guided reading, to media literacy activities, to diverse civic engagement programs
