The go-to branding of school libraries usually involves a primary focus on literacy, but what can it look like when school librarians also take the lead with Social Emotional Learning (SEL)? In this conversation with Anita Cellucci, learn about how you can lead from the library through relationship-building and intentionality to support SEL.
As you'll hear from Cellucci, it's important for librarians to recognize and navigate boundaries in SEL when they are not clinicians or therapists themselves; this may mean collaborating with other professionals. Through these collaborations as well as other intentional approaches, the school library can contribute in powerful ways to provide space and opportunities for students and staff, helping them be vulnerable and find a voice to share what they are experiencing.
