This video conversation with Angie Jameson, library media specialist at Chagrin Falls Exempted Village Schools in Northeast Ohio, was inspired by the School Library Connection article she co-authored with Nathan Bachofsky: "A NOTEworthy Collaboration: Pairing with Music Teachers to Grow Your Reach."
Angie shares some of her musical collaborations, emphasizing the importance of relationship-building and establishing trust. At the same time, she identifies how music teachers may sometimes have less experience with research-based projects, presenting unique opportunities for deep partnership from a lesson's start to finish, including curriculum writing, rubric development, and grading.
With an active practice of schoolwide collaboration, it is clear why Angie was recognized as the recipient of Ohio Educational Library Media Association's 2021 Collaborative School Library Award. As she explains, every single subject area has literacy-related standards, creating a range of ways to collaborate with every single teacher, differentiating collaboration to best support each teacher based on their unique needs.
If you are challenging yourself to expand your collaboration efforts across subject areas, hearing from Angie may provide just the inspiration that you need to get started or to continue building your own practice.
