Introduction [1:37]
Sylvia Vardell discusses effective strategies using children's literature for teaching children in K-5. She examines the different genres of children's literature and talks about the skills or challenges each type brings to the readers. Sylvia also talks about new ways authors are approaching literature by blending things like poetry and nonfiction and how the web can help students find resources such as audiobooks or books on film; all while reminding you that "fundamentally, children's literature is just for fun."
