Who do you consider a part of the learning community at your school? The short answer should be: everyone! A school learning community involves all of those who support student learning and well-being. In this course, you'll learn why it is so important for school librarians to form relationships and build trust with individuals and groups in the learning community, including students, parents, teachers, and administration. Watch the video lessons and complete the reflection activities to deepen your collaboration within the learning community around you!
- Learn about the role of the librarian in the learning community and the librarian's relationships with various stakeholder groups, including students, parents, teachers, and administration
- Learn to integrate the curriculum into your lessons, reinforcing content students are learning in the classroom
- Learn to connect with school leaders by creating professional development for the school staff featuring the latest advances in education
- Learn to support student learning through the common goals of your school's specialists, creating new solutions to student needs
- Learn ways to collaborate with parents and caregivers to develop and reinforce student literacy skills
- Learn how to widen your audience by using the partnerships within your community through cross promotion of local businesses and services
