Susan D. Ballard discusses advocacy in the school library. She offers guidance on creating strategies for year long advocacy. Using advocacy to advance your programs and build awareness within your school library community strengthens those relationships. Susan will discuss the barriers to advocacy and how to develop an effective plan. The learning journey of advocacy is one that all librarians should take.

Susan D. Ballard, MS, is vice president of the National Collaborative for Digital Equity and a past president of AASL. She served on the Editorial Board for the AASL Standards and Guidelines Editorial Board, responsible for writing the National School Library Standards for Learners, Librarians and School Libraries.
